Vera Kelley was an exceptional woman and person. She was a Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Wife, Daughter, Friend, and she was the perfect example of a kind-hearted good-natured human being. Not to confuse her kindness with being a pushover, Vera kept it real and didn’t hesitate to let you know just how she felt about you or a situation you brought to her for advice. Vera was born on January 19, 1949 in Washington, Louisiana through the union of Jesse Joubert and Hattie Mae Meredith. She was the first of five children and being the oldest meant learning how to help take care of her younger siblings which is where Vera learned to be a leader and a great cook. Vera graduated High School in 1967 and attended City College in San Francisco for 2 years earning her Associates Degree. Through her unions with Robert Banks and Calvin Kelley her only two children were born: Yvette Banks was born in 1969; Jonathan Kelley was born in 1982. In the early 90’s Vera would relocate from Northern California to Orlando, Florida with AT&T the company she worked at for over 30 years. She made countless friends in California and Florida and treated those who had also relocated to Orlando like family. She would often cook Sunday dinners and invite co-workers over who had no family in Orlando. Vera would spend the rest of her life residing in Orlando, Florida. Vera Kelley lived her life always putting others first. She cared deeply about people especially those she considered family and friends. She cared for us all and wanted us to go on living our lives to the fullest. In her words “cry if you need to in the moment when I am gone but after you are done crying get up off your asses and go do what you want to do”. On July 20, 2019 at approximately 7:50 am est. Vera Kelley passed away joining her mother, Hattie Mae Meredith; father, Jesse Joubert; uncle, Wardy G. Joubert; sister, Vivan Green; and brother, Kevin Green. Vera is survived by her daughter, Yvette Banks; son, Jonathan Kelley (spouse Letishia L. Kelley); brothers, Brian C. Green and John Green; granddaughters, Akenyae R. Jones and Aryanna Y. Kelley. Let us all remember Vera Kelley for the amazing woman she was and keep her legacy alive by truly being better to one another and living our lives to the fullest.
