In Loving Memory of Onnie Cook Onnie Cook, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, caregiver, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026, in Orlando, Florida. She was born on October 2, 1947, in Tifton, Georgia, to Robert Baker and Ada Blount. Onnie moved from Georgia at a young age and grew up in Titusville, Florida. After losing her parents at a young age, Onnie left school early to help care for her younger siblings. Her caring nature became a defining part of who she was throughout her life. She was an amazing caregiver and spent many years working in daycares, including her own daughters. Onnie had a personality that was impossible to forget. She was strong-willed and sometimes stubborn, but she was also incredibly funny and had a wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, especially watching television. She was an avid television watcher and particularly loved her stories, westerns, and Jeopardy!. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and could spend hours working through them. Family was at the heart of Onnie's life. She was especially close to her sisters-in-law, Burtie M. Bennett and Betty Ann Thornton, and spoke with them every day. Their families shared a special bond with Onnie that she treasured deeply. Onnie was preceded in death by her domestic partner, Earl Medley; her son, Johnny Cook; her daughter, Donna Cook; and her grandson, Michael Long. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, William Allen Cook; her daughter, Shannon Cook; her brothers, William Allen Baker, Joseph Baker, Connie Baker, and Doug Baker; her sisters-in-law, Burtie M. Bennett and Betty Ann Thornton and their families; her grandchildren, Ada Cook, Keara Garland, Kelly Gabrielse, Kayla Cook, and Annie Staggs; and her great-grandchildren, Xhannalora Cook, James Coleman, and Koby Cook. Onnie was deeply loved by her family and friends. Her humor, strength, stubborn spirit, caring heart, and daily conversations with those she loved will be remembered for years to come. She gave so much of herself to caring for others, and the love she shared will continue through the generations of her family. She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed. Though she is no longer with us, the memories of Onnie and the love she gave so freely will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace.
