Oliver Charles, Leonard, Jr. was born in New Orleans, LA, on February 6th, 1954. He grew up in Pensacola with his brother, Alan, and sister Cynthia. He graduated Santa Fe University in Gainesville with a degree in Cardio-Pulmonary Imaging. In 1999, he graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor’s in Healthcare Management. Charlie married twice and through his marriage to Maryann, were born his beloved children Amy, Alex and Alaina. During his many happy years with Terry, he also became a devoted father to her daughter, Jennifer. Charles dedicated his life to service in healthcare, service to his patients and service to his colleagues. His passion for excellence in cardiology and radiology were legendary. So much so, that he became known as ”The Ultrasound Guru.” As fate would have it, in 2005, Charlie met with Joe Rogowski and they formulated a cardiac testing entity that would prescreen athletes for clearance to their sports. This company was Athletic Heart, which Charlie was proud to be affiliated with until his passing. Charlie’s recreational pursuits were as varied and epic as his other passions. He was a master scuba diver of over fifty years. He tallied over a thousand parachute jumps and was an avid hang glider. He enjoyed the excitement of deep-sea fishing and the quiet moments on a lake or pond patiently waiting for a tug on the hook. Charlie lived every moment of life with zeal. In his final two years he found immense joy as a doting grandfather to Cristana, and renewing his family ties. Charlie was preceded in death by his Parents, Oliver Sr. and Alice Leonard, and his daughters, Amy & Alaina. He is survived by his partner, Teresa Elliott, his son, Alex Leonard, his Step- Daughter, Jennifer Elliott, his Sister Cynthia Stichweh (Larry), Brother, Alan Leonard, and his “Sweet Pea” Granddaughter, Cristana Cuebas-Elliott. He had an “always hopeful” attitude. He fought a long and hard battle against cancer and was finally called to the Lord on December 13th, 2024. Charlie was a loving and devoted brother, father, and grandfather. He was a constant companion with Terry, up until his final day. We will miss him dearly. “Live with integrity, follow your dreams, never give up.” OCL Celebration of Life will be held January 11, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Methodist Church of Oviedo, 263 King St. Oviedo, FL 32765.
