Martha Esther Rivera, affectionately known as Mima to all who cherished her, was a beacon of light and love in this world. Born on January 26, 1944, in the sun-kissed town of Guanica, Puerto Rico, Mima's journey led her to touch countless lives with her warmth, grace, and unwavering faith. On a quiet day in Staten Island, NY, surrounded by the love of her family, Mima was called home on November 2, 2025, after a valiant battle with Cancer and Alzheimer's. Mima's life was a testament to her faith-filled spirit. Educated at Erasmus High School in Brooklyn and later at New York Theological Seminary, she embodied the Christian values of love, service, and compassion. Mima's career in accounting at Guardian Life Insurance was marked by her meticulous nature and her innate ability to bring order and clarity to complex situations. Her devotion to her church was unparalleled. Mima served as a Deacon, Treasurer, and Sunday school teacher, imparting lessons of love and faith that shaped the hearts and minds of those around her. She was also a top-selling Avon Representative, using her entrepreneurial talents to spread beauty and joy in her community. Mima's legacy is carried on by her beloved children: Elizabeth, who preceded her in heaven, Evelyn, David with his wife Kayra, and Susan with her husband Kevin. Her grandchildren: Rickardo, Alexandra, Nelson Jr (now resting in peace), Joshua, Jonathon, Devon, Alissa, Tyler R., William, Brian, and Tyler O., as well as her great-granddaughter Caroline, will forever be guided by her wisdom and love. Mima also leaves behind her brother Robert and his wife Donna, and she is reunited in glory with her brother Thomas, who was married to his wife Lisa. Her nieces: Serena, Disa, Annique, Rebecca R., and Rebecca W., along with many other extended family and friends, will continue to walk in the path she illuminated. Mima's life was a symphony of thoughtful moments and loving gestures. She was the heart of her family, a steadfast friend, and a servant leader in her church and community. Her absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but her spirit remains a guiding force. As we celebrate Mima's ascent to her heavenly home, let us hold onto the memories of her radiant smile, her gentle hands, and her boundless love. Let us find solace in knowing that she is now in the embrace of her Creator, free from pain and full of the joy she so richly deserves. Today, we do not say goodbye to Martha Esther Rivera; we say, "Until we meet again." For in the hearts of those she loved and the lives she touched, Mima's legacy will continue to thrive. She ran the good race, she kept the faith, and now she has claimed the crown of righteousness laid up for her in the Lord's kingdom.
