Jurma Dorothy Baptiste was born to Theophilus and Esther Baptiste on October 10, 1934 in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. She was a Registered Professional Nurse, an active member of the church, and devoted volunteer upon retirement within the Orlando community. She was beloved by all her family and closest friends. Jurma ascended to the heavenly gates on January 9, 2020 in the comfort of her home with immediate family peacefully. At a young age, Jurma had a deep desire to help others which led her to seek a life of servitude. She attended the University of the State of New York and became a Registered Professional Nurse on June 11, 1969. She continued her studies at Saint Joseph’s College, earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Community Health and later worked for the SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. In her downtime, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, entertaining in social settings and was an avid traveler. She was known for traveling around the world. She was a cruise queen which afforded her the opportunities to visit Alaska, Mexico, the Caribbean Islands, and the Mediterranean. Her accomplishments enabled her to retire in 1997. Upon retirement she spent the rest of her days volunteering at the Hospice of the Comforter and Goodwill. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her family as she is survived by her daughter Gail Andrea Nunez, son-in-law (Hermus) Albinus Edu Nunez Sr., and sister Marjorie Cynthia Julien; nieces and nephews Gabrielle Julien-Molineaux, Nicole Baptiste-Okoh, Darryl Courtney Hamilton, Desmond Walters, Gloria Walters, Oscar Walters and all the rest of the 13 Walters’ siblings; her grandchildren Mark Alphonso Taylor, Neuben Tara Marsha Nunez, Tamara Tasha Salisha Nunez, Albinus Theophilus Kareem Nunez II, Alana Tiffany Vonetta Nunez; grand-Daughter-in-law Taryn Taylor Nunez, and; grand-Sons-in-law Ruthven Andre Harris Jr. and Troy Oliver Bennett; her great-Grandchildren: Khalil Gabriel Nunez Harris, Neliah Angelique Nunez Harris, Tyana Leigh Taylor, Naiyah Alexandria Nunez Harris, Salisha Jiana Nunez Bailey, Jaelah Annalyce Nunez Harris, Jennae Andrea Nunez Harris, Taylen Oliver Nathaniel Bennett, Aviana Vonet Nelani Bennett, and Alijah James Nunez; her great-Nieces and Nephews Darrion Hamilton, Obianke Okoh, Ijeoma Okoh, and Isioma Okoh. She was predeceased by her parents Theophilus Baptiste, Esther Baptiste; her siblings Dora Walters, Anselm Baptiste, and Bernice Hamilton; and her great-Grandson Mahlik Anthony Nunez. A Memorial Service will be held at The Lakeside Reception Hall on Friday, January 31, 2020 from 5pm - 11pm.
