To the first man I loved, you will be loved and missed dearly daddy. On January 4, 2019 my dad, Carlos Eduardo Mejia, died unexpectedly at 53 years old. He was born on March 31, 1965 and It has been a shocking and unbearable loss to my family and everyone who has met my dad and my family. We have been as okay as we can be at this time thanks to all of our family and friends who have reached out to us physically and/or virtually. My dad was a wonderful man. He had many sides that many people may not have seen. He was shy and it was difficult for him to speak in English, he was very serious looking at times. but what you may not have seen was that he was the least serious of any one of us. My dad barely got angry and made jokes, laughed over the stupidest, dorkiest things. When anybody was angry, he would try to make you laugh instead. He’d learn new things daily, he seemed to know everything, and was always there for everyone. My dad was known as the doctor by everyone. Family and friends would call to ask my father about advice on their health before going to the doctors, and he helped them all. My dad moved from Colombia about 20 years ago. He was looking for a better life a lot of the doors were closing there and was searching for more with me and my mom. In Colombia, my dad was extremely hard working, becoming a doctor. It was extremely difficult for my parents to move here, they hardly had money or knew anyone. We started out living with family who were already here, my parents worked constantly, and we moved often to try to get ahead. At one point, my dad worked 3 jobs and my parents had to switch off taking care of me sometimes having me sleeping at their jobs. Yet they never gave up and eventually made a home here in Orlando, it wasn't what my parents dreamed for, but it was stable and may have saved my life when I was diagnosed with cancer. During that time my dad took care of me constantly coming straight from work and back to the hospital, he took over at my house. He did everything while my mom was at the hospital and took care of my sister and brought her back to the hospital. He loved his family so much and did everything for us. My dad was Mr. Mom taking care of us, helping around the house, and cooking for everyone. I wish people would see the soul that my family, his friends, and I saw because he deserved the world and more; to finish his dreams, to see his daughters grow up, and to attain the American dream. I love you so much Daddy, and there is a hole in my heart but at the same time I’m at peace knowing that you won’t suffer and that your death will bring so many miracles, that many of us didn’t think would, to have our family back together, to see your daughters strive all for you daddy. “te amaremos por siempre a la persona que vivio y murio por nosotros” “siempre recordaremos a esa Hermosa persona que se entrego a todos sin esperar nada a cambio” “amaremos siempre a esa persona que nos sorprendia con su conocimiento infinito y con su humor negro que solo los que lo conociamos de verdad conocimos ese lado de el” “como olvidar a ese ser tan maraviloso que ponia la necesidad del projimo sobre la de el” “Amor, muy sencillo definir esa palabra si conocieron a carlitos, la manera con la que miraba a sus hermosas hijas, y la maner tan Hermosa con la que miraba. A su esposa nos define esa palabra sin duda alguna” “Carlitos Un alma buena Un alma pura Un alma de escucha Un alma de entrega Un alma de servicio Un ser de amor” “Gracias por estar siempre dispuesto para todos: familia, amigos, pacientes y cada persona que necesitara de ti. Supiste comprender el sentido de la vida, EL SERVICIO. Ese es el camino hacia DIOS. Esposo y padre ejemplar, dedicaste tu vida para tu hogar sin egoísmo. Brindaste todo tu tiempo, atención y amor plenamente y sin restricciones. Dentro de tus innumerables virtudes hay una que te hizo mucho más especial y es el hecho de siempre darle prioridad a todas las personas primero que ti mismo. Un hombre sabio quien no contento con siempre estar para tu esposa e hijas, atendías el llamado de quienes te necesitáramos, para dar un consejo, para ser guía y apoyo en cualquier situación. Como lo dijo Valeria: “las flores más bellas del jardín son las primeras que se van” Gracias Carlitos por la alegría que nos diste, ahora vives en el reino de los cielos.”
